// WHO IT SUITS
Who should pick which
Fergus fits when
- Materials are a big share of each job and supplier prices move.
- Jobs run in stages and you invoice as each phase finishes.
- You want job-level reporting on where the margin went.
- Some of the crew only need to log time, not run jobs.
Tradify fits when
- Most jobs are short and quoted, done and invoiced quickly.
- You want a clear ex-GST price per user before you start.
- You schedule subcontractors alongside your own team.
- You want a simple website and enquiry inbox in the same tool.
Each vendor publishes its own comparison, and each says it wins. Fergus's version leads with automatic supplier integrations, supplier price book imports, job phase invoicing and its reports. Tradify's version leads with ease of use, an online enquiry form and inbox, subcontractor scheduling at no extra cost and its Instant Website. Read both as sales pages. The split they describe is still a useful guide to where each product puts its effort.

Fergus is also advertising "90% off til December", with the plan cards showing $5.30 and $7.70. The pricing page does not say who it applies to or what you pay from January, so budget on the full price. Every Fergus add-on fee, and what its pricing page leaves out, is on our Fergus pricing page. Tradify's strengths and gaps are covered in our Tradify review.

// IF PER-USER PRICING IS THE PROBLEM
The option that does not charge per user
Fergus and Tradify both grow with headcount. If your bill is mostly seats for an office admin, an apprentice or a part-timer, a per-job model can cost less. ServiceM8's AU paid plans run from $29 to $349 a month including GST, sized by jobs per month, and each includes unlimited users. It is built around short service jobs run from an iPhone, so it suits fewer project-style businesses than Fergus does.
Plain disclosure: Web Blend is a ServiceM8 partner, so we have a commercial interest in that route. If Fergus or Tradify fits your work better, pick it. If you do decide to move, our switch to ServiceM8 service covers the export, import and cutover from either one for from $1,800 + GST. Staying put? We also connect Fergus and Tradify to your marketing, through the Fergus GoHighLevel integration and the Tradify GoHighLevel integration.
