// SEO FOR ROOFERS
SEO for roofers, ready before the storm hits
SEO for roofers is a timing problem. Leak and storm searches spike overnight, and the pages that win them were indexed weeks earlier. Re-roofs and restorations are researched for weeks before anyone calls. We build the pages, the local setup and the tracking for both, as a one-off project from $3,500 + GST.
// SEARCH INTENT
A leak today and a new roof next year are different searches
Roofing search splits cleanly. Some people need a roofer before the next rain. Others are pricing a job they will book in a few months. They use different words, read different amounts, and need different pages.
Storm and leak intent
Decided before the next downpour
- roof leaking in rain
- emergency roof repair
- storm damage roof repair
- roof tarp near me
- cracked roof tiles after hail
Searched on a phone, often with water coming through a ceiling. The map pack and the first genuine result take most of the clicks, and the roofer who answers and can get there first wins. The page needs the number at the top, the suburbs you cover and whether you do make-safe and tarping.
Planned intent
Researched over weeks
- re-roofing cost
- tile to metal roof conversion
- roof restoration price
- ridge capping repointing
- gutter replacement cost
The roof is old, the quotes are coming in, and the owner wants to understand the job before they let anyone up there. Cost drivers, materials, timing and photos of finished roofs do the selling. A thin page with a contact form loses to whoever explained the job properly.
// SEASONAL DEMAND
Roofing demand follows the weather, so the pages have to lead it
Storm season on most of the east coast runs through the warmer months, and the north has its wet season. New pages take weeks to be indexed and longer to rank, so the work has to happen in the quiet months.
- 01
Before storm season
Build and index the urgent pagesLeak, storm damage and emergency repair pages need to be live, indexed and linked from your Google profile weeks before the first big storm. A page published the morning after a hailstorm is too late for that storm.
- 02
During and after a storm
Answer the phone, then the follow-up searchesSearches for leaks and storm repairs jump overnight, and so do the insurance questions a few days later. Profile posts and fresh photos of real storm jobs show you are working in the area right now.
- 03
Drier, milder months
Win the planned workRestorations, re-roofs and gutter replacements get researched for weeks before anyone books. Cost pages and material comparisons earn that traffic months before the job is scheduled.
After a big storm, the search results fill up with directories, lead resellers and storm chasers from out of the area. A roofer with an indexed storm page, an active Google profile and recent local photos is the one that looks local and trustworthy. The resellers sell the same enquiry to several roofers at once. We covered that model in buying leads versus generating your own.
// REPAIR VS REPLACE
Repair pages and re-roof pages do opposite jobs
Most roofing sites have one "roof repairs and restorations" page. That page is too slow for the leak and too thin for the re-roof.
Repair intent
One problem, fixed this week
A leak over the lounge, a few cracked tiles, rusted flashing, failed pointing on the ridge. The searcher wants someone up a ladder soon and a price for that one job. Short page, number at the top, the suburbs you cover, photos of the repair type.
Replacement intent
A five-figure decision, made slowly
A full re-roof, a tile to metal conversion, a restoration on a roof that is near the end of its life. This buyer wants to know when repair stops making sense, what drives the cost, how long the job takes and what happens if it rains halfway through. Depth wins here.
The page that wins the re-roof enquiry answers the question the owner is really asking: is this roof worth repairing again, or is it time? An honest answer, with the signs that point each way, is what earns the call. It is also the content directories never write.
// MATERIALS
Metal and tile roofs pull different searches
Homeowners search by the roof they have or the roof they want. Pages split by material match those searches and filter out enquiries for work you do not do.
Metal roofing
Colorbond and other metal sheet roofing is its own set of searches: new roofs, re-sheeting, colour choices, rust, noise in rain, coastal grades. If metal is most of your work, it deserves pages written by someone who installs it.
Tile roofing
Terracotta and concrete tiles bring a different set: cracked and slipped tiles, rebedding and repointing, restoration and sealing, and matching old tiles. A metal-only roofer should not have these pages, and a tile specialist should not hide behind a generic one.
Tile to metal
The conversion is a search in its own right, usually from homeowners comparing cost, weight and lifespan. It sits between repair and replacement, and it is often the highest-value enquiry a residential roofer gets.
The site structure that follows from all of this looks something like the following list. Each page gets its own heading, cost section, FAQ and photos.
-
/roof-leak-repairs/Phone first, fast, built for someone with a bucket on the floor -
/storm-damage-roof-repairs/Make-safe, tarping and the insurance questions that follow -
/roof-restoration/Tile or metal, what is included, what it costs and when it is not worth it -
/re-roofing/Full replacement: cost drivers, timing, weather and what the day looks like -
/tile-to-metal-roof-conversion/The comparison buyers are already making in their heads -
/gutter-replacement/Separate job, separate searchers, separate page
The limit is honesty. Build a page for each service and material you genuinely do. Forty near-identical pages with the suburb or material swapped is a doorway pattern, and Google treats it as abuse rather than coverage.
// TRUST SIGNALS
Look like the local roofer, not the storm chaser
Letting a stranger onto your roof is a trust decision, and it gets made fastest after a storm, when the out-of-area operators turn up. These are the signals that separate you, and every one of them can go on the page.
- Your licence or registration number shown on the site, with the issuing authority named, where your state licenses roofing work. Homeowners about to let someone on their roof do check.
- Public liability insurance stated in plain words, plus how you handle working at heights. Roof work is risky, and the person choosing knows it.
- A real storm policy: whether you do make-safe and tarping, how fast you can get there, and whether you help with insurance reports. Vague promises read like a storm chaser.
- Photos of your own roofs, before and after, named for the job and the suburb rather than a stock photo of a roof in another country.
- Reviews that name the job and the suburb: the leak you found, the re-roof you finished before the rain. Those carry far more weight than five stars and no words.
- Schema markup that states you are a roofing contractor, with the same business name, phone number and service area as your Google profile and directory listings.
If your profile is live but not showing, start with why a Google Business Profile stops showing up. For what roofers charge across Australia, see our roofer rates guide.
// WHERE OUR PROOF SITS
We have not built for a roofer yet
We do not have a roofing client, so there are no roofing results on this page and we will not invent any. Our published trade results are plumbing, and they are labelled that way on our work page.
What transfers: urgent search behaves the same whether the words are "burst pipe" or "roof leaking in rain". Service-area profile setup, per-service pages, review flow and call tracking work the same way in every trade.
What does not transfer: the roofing SERP in your area, the storm timing where you work, and the materials you install. That gets researched fresh before a page is written. Judge us on the method on this page and on the plumbing work we can show you.
// HOW THE PROJECT RUNS
A scoped project, from $3,500 + GST
Audit and keyword map
What you rank for now, which repair, replacement and material searches you can realistically win, and what the SERP looks like for each in your area.
Storm-ready structure
The urgent pages built and indexed first, then the re-roof, restoration and material pages, each with its own cost section, FAQ and photos.
Profile and local signals
Google Business Profile set up for a service area, categories set properly, a review flow switched on, and your details made consistent everywhere.
Tracking and handover
Calls and forms tracked to the page that earned them, so you can see what the last storm brought in, and a plain-English handover.
One fixed price from $3,500 + GST, a defined finish, and the pages are yours. No monthly retainer. The best time to start is the quiet months before storm season. // QUESTIONS
Straight answers before you ask
Not sure whether SEO is the right spend for your roofing business before this storm season? Ask us and we'll give you a straight answer.
Get in touchHow much does SEO for roofers cost?
It is a one-off project from $3,500 + GST, not a monthly retainer. The figure moves with how many repair, replacement and material pages need writing and how much groundwork is already in place. You get one fixed price before any work starts.
Why does timing matter so much for roofing SEO?
Because roofing demand arrives with the weather. New pages usually take weeks to be indexed and longer to rank, so a storm damage page published after the storm misses it. The urgent pages need to be live and settled before storm season, and the planned-work pages need to be ranking before people start researching restorations and re-roofs.
Should repairs and re-roofing be on the same page?
No. Someone with a leak wants a fast repair and a phone number. Someone pricing a re-roof wants cost drivers, timing and materials, and will read for a while. One page trying to do both does neither well, and Google has a harder time matching it to either search.
Do I need separate pages for metal and tile roofs?
Only for the work you actually do. Metal and tile roofs pull different searches and different problems, so a roofer doing both should cover both properly. A roofer doing only one should not publish pages for the other just to collect traffic. That is a doorway pattern and it brings in enquiries you will turn away.
Do you have roofing case studies?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. We do not have a roofing client yet. Our published trade results are plumbing, and they are labelled as plumbing on our work page. The method on this page is what we would do for a roofer, and the keyword and SERP research is done fresh for your services and your area before anything is written.
Should I do SEO or Google Ads first?
If storm season is next month and you have no pages, ads can cover it while the pages get indexed. If you want leak and re-roof enquiries without paying per click every season, SEO. Many roofers run both, with ads switched up during storms. Our guide comparing SEO and Google Ads for tradies goes into the trade-off.
