Google Business Profile video verification with no shopfront
Google Business Profile video verification with no shopfront is passable for a real home-based or mobile trade, as long as the video shows where you operate, that the business is real, and that you run it. We run it like this: we request the video, text you the link, and you film it at your base, on the day, on your own phone, following four shots in order.

// WHAT GOOGLE WANTS
What Google is checking in the video
For a service-area business, Google’s video verification help asks for three things:
- Where you are: street signs, nearby landmarks or other identifiers at your business address.
- That the business is real: the professional tools, equipment or products you use for work.
- That you run it: you doing the work or getting into business-only gear, or documents such as a permit, invoice or utility bill.
None of that needs a shopfront. It needs the real place you work from, and the real gear you work with.
// THE SHOT LIST
The four shots we use, adjusted for a home base
No branded ute and no sign? Skip shots 2 and 3 rather than borrowing a vehicle or sticking up a sign for the camera. Google is checking where the business really operates, so anything staged works against you.
- The road. Start at the street: the street sign, your letterbox and the house or unit number in frame.
- A vehicle with the business logo on it. Walk around it so the name can be read. Skip this shot if your work vehicle has no logo.
- The door with the business logo, or the sign on the window. Close enough to read the name. Skip it if there is no permanent sign.
- The office desk and your gear. Computer on with your business software or email open, your tools, and a business document such as an invoice or licence with the numbers covered. Keep faces out of shot.
Google's rules for the recording
- One unedited, complete recording with no breaks, at least 30 seconds long. Film it as one walk from the road to the desk.
- Recorded live through your Business Profile on your phone, at the business. Google doesn't accept a video recorded earlier and uploaded later.
- The business name on any sign or vehicle has to match the name on the profile.
- No bank, tax or ID numbers, no customer details on screen, and no other people's faces.
Never borrow a vehicle or put up a sign for the camera. Source: Google's video verification help, checked October 2026.
// HONEST ANSWER
Who can’t pass, and why we’ll say so
Virtual offices and mailbox addresses. Google’s guidelines list virtual offices as ineligible.
A coworking desk with no sign of its own, no customers and none of your own staff there during business hours.
An online-only business with no in-person service. Google says those can’t be verified.
If that’s you, we’ll tell you before you pay.
// ON THE DAY
How the day runs
- We check the profile name, service area and hidden address against your website and listings.
- We pick a time when you’re at your base in daylight.
- We request the verification and text you the link.
- You open it there, on your own phone, allow location and camera access, and film the four shots in one take.
- You submit it straight away and text us. We handle anything Google sends back.

// QUESTIONS
Questions owners ask
Not sure which of these is yours? Ask us and we will give you a straight answer, including when you can fix it yourself.
Get my verification video rightCan I verify a Google Business Profile without a shopfront?
Yes. Google’s help says a business without permanent on-site signage should be set up as a service-area business, which hides its address. The video then shows the area you operate from, your tools and equipment, and that you run the business.
Do I have to film inside my home?
The video needs to show you manage the business. Google accepts recording yourself doing the work or getting into business-only gear, or documents such as an invoice or permit. We plan the shots so you film the desk, tools and paperwork, not your living room.
My work vehicle has no logo. Will I fail?
Not having a branded vehicle isn’t a reason to borrow one. Skip that shot and let the street, your tools and your business documents carry the video.
I live on a cul-de-sac with no street sign. What do I film?
Google’s help says a home-based business can film landmarks and signs in its immediate neighbourhood. Start at the nearest street sign and keep filming, without a break, back to your letterbox, so the video connects the two.
Can I use a coworking or virtual office address instead?
Not a virtual office: Google lists them as ineligible. A coworking office only counts if it has clear signage, receives customers and is staffed by your business during business hours. Use the address you actually work from and hide it if customers don’t visit.
Can you film it for me?
No. The recording is captured live through your Business Profile and has to show where you operate, so it has to be filmed by you, there. That’s why we text you the link and brief you, rather than filming it ourselves from Darwin.
