Joondalup Electrical

3 → 12 Google reviews in the first month, still sitting on 5.0

// THE BRIEF

What they came to us for

Joondalup Electrical came to Web Blend in July 2026 with a four page WordPress site on someone else’s hosting and a phone that rang mostly on word of mouth. Glen has been on the tools 25 years and the work is good, but almost none of it was findable. Google had four of his pages indexed. There was no page anywhere for a switchboard upgrade, which is the job he most wants more of, and nothing on the site that let anyone start a job without picking up the phone. He wanted the business found at the moment something goes wrong, and in front of the people pricing up the planned work worth quoting on.

// WHAT WE DID

The build

We rebuilt the site from scratch on Astro and Cloudflare Workers, then moved the domain and the hosting across so Glen owns the lot. The old build was four pages of WordPress and Elementor on a host he had no login for. The new one is 46 pages that we host and look after.

The structure follows the way electrical work actually gets searched, not the way an electrician lists his services. Faults, no power and emergency calls that will not wait get their own pages with the phone in reach. Planned work gets a page each: switchboard upgrades, air conditioning, EV chargers, RCDs, smoke alarms, rewiring. Sixteen suburb pages cover the corridor Glen actually services. His licence, his insurance and the 10 year workmanship guarantee sit on the page as trust signals rather than fine print, and the call-out fee is published instead of hidden.

Before DNS moved we exported Search Console and mapped every legacy URL. Google had four pages indexed, with the old homepage first for “electrician Joondalup” and the services page second for “switchboard upgrade Joondalup”. All four still answer at the same address on the new build, and the old WordPress sitemap paths redirect. Nothing that was already ranking got dropped on the floor at cutover.

On top of the site we built three switchboard landing pages for paid traffic: the Free Switchboard Safety Check offer, a Joondalup switchboard upgrade page, and an asbestos switchboard replacement page for the Perth wide work. They are written tight to the keywords the ads bid on, which is the thing Google’s landing page experience score is actually measuring.

The Google Ads account is built and ready to import: three campaigns, seven ad groups, 60 headlines, on a $1,000 to $1,500 a month budget. Every keyword was checked individually against live Perth volume and cost per click before it went in, which took the plan from the eleven ad groups we first drafted down to seven that can each get enough clicks to read. Switchboard work goes Perth wide because it is quoted and scheduled and the travel is priced in. Faults stay inside the sixteen suburb corridor, because one sparky cannot service a same day callout across the whole city.

The Google Business Profile was set up as a service area business rather than a shopfront, address hidden, primary and secondary categories set, and the service area pushed out to Google’s twenty area limit. We built the citations to match and created the five social profiles the business did not have, all standardised on one handle so Google reads them as the same business.

Then we went after reviews, because three of them is not much proof for a business that has been going 25 years. The request now goes out automatically once the job is done, with a thank you photo that carries the customer’s own name. Glen went from 3 Google reviews to 12 inside the first month, and held the 5.0.

// BEFORE & AFTER

The difference

Same page, same fold, same phone. The old site opened on a stock multimeter photo and a heading that would suit any electrician in the country. The new one opens on Glen’s own work, the offer, the licence number and two ways to start a job.

Homepage, desktop at 1440 x 900

before
The old Joondalup Electrical WordPress homepage: a stock multimeter photo behind the heading Trusted Electrician.
