// THE BRIEF

What they came to us for

Kieran runs Hunter Bush Regeneration out of Singleton: weed control, planting and revegetation, APZ maintenance and restoration plans for landholders, councils, mines and conservation projects across the Hunter. The work is specialised and the clients are serious, but the website was a WordPress install on “Greenola”, a generic gardening theme, with the theme’s demo content still sitting underneath it: plant products, blog posts and portfolio entries about gardens in California. Not one page had a real H1, a meta description or any structured data. A security plugin on the host was putting a CAPTCHA in front of crawlers, and the shop and case studies pages were empty placeholders Google had indexed anyway. He wanted a site that looked like the business and could be found by the people who hire it, and someone to sort out everything sitting behind it.

// WHAT WE DID

The build

A site built for the work, not the theme

We rebuilt the site from scratch on Astro and Cloudflare, hand built rather than swapped onto another theme. The logo is Kieran’s own. We designed everything else around it, with photos of the crew in the field and the phone number and enquiry form easy to reach.

Twelve real pages became twenty one. Every service has its own page, including three new ones for blackberry spraying, weed spraying across the Hunter Valley and mine rehabilitation. There is a page written for council contracts, and pages for the three towns they work around most: Newcastle, Maitland and Cessnock.

One of eleven service pages, each written for one job they do.

Search basics, done properly

Every page now has one clear H1, a written meta description and structured data that tells Google who the business is and where it works. The crawler CAPTCHA went with the old host. The theme’s demo leftovers were retired instead of migrated, and the old /home/ and /shop/ addresses redirect to real pages so nothing points at a dead end.

  • Written meta description21 / 21
  • Structured data21 / 21

  • Old /home/ and /shop/Redirected

Email, DNS, hosting and tracking under one roof

We set up their business email, moved the DNS and the hosting, and put Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 on the site. The domain, the inbox, the site and the numbers now sit in one place, with one team answering for all of it. Every enquiry and every tap on the phone number is counted, and the whole domain is verified in Google Search Console, so there is a record of what people search before they land.

  • DNS and hostingCloudflare

A CRM, and a system for posting content

We set them up with a CRM to keep track of enquiries and customers, and a posting system so content goes out across their socials from one place instead of logging into each platform.

Day to day

  • New enquiriesLogged in the CRM
  • CustomersKept in the CRM
  • Social postsSent from one place

The advice that worked: film the work

The most useful advice we gave was the simplest. Record short videos on the job, on a phone, and post them. Bush regeneration is work people can see changing.

Kieran’s crew took it on. Those short videos on socials are how some new customers have found the business, and they have also brought in people who want to come and work for them. For a field crew, the second one is worth as much as the first.

Thirty seconds filmed on site shows the work better than any paragraph on a website.

// WHAT THEY GOT

What it does for the business

Found

A page for every job they want more of

Eleven service pages, a council contracts page and pages for Newcastle, Maitland and Cessnock, so the people who hire them land on the right one.

Readable

Pages Google can actually understand

Every page went from no H1, no description and no structured data to all three.

Owned

One team answering for the lot

Domain, DNS, hosting and email sit in one place, so nothing falls between suppliers.

Measured

Every enquiry and phone tap counted

Tag Manager and GA4 record each enquiry and each tap on the number, so the next decision runs on real figures.

Organised

Every enquiry in one place

The CRM keeps enquiries and customers together instead of spread across a phone and an inbox.

Seen

Customers and crew finding them on socials

The short video habit has brought in new customers and people who want to work for them.

// BEFORE & AFTER

The difference

The rebuild kept the look of the old site on purpose and replaced everything under it. On a phone the difference shows straight away. The old homepage opened on a line about “unrivaled expertise and passion for excellence”, with no quick way to call. The new one says what they do and where, puts a call button in the header, lists the accreditations under the hero and keeps a call bar on screen.

The before shot was captured off the old WordPress site on 25 September 2026, the after shot off the live site on 2 October 2026.

12 → 21 real pages, rebuilt off a repurposed gardening theme
0 → 21 pages with an H1, meta description and structured data
8 → 11 service pages, each written for one job they do

New site checked live on 2 October 2026. Old site figures are from our recon of the WordPress build on 25 September 2026.
