Do websites need ongoing maintenance?

// THE STRAIGHT ANSWER

The straight answer

Most websites need ongoing maintenance, but how much depends entirely on the platform. WordPress sites need real, regular work: core updates, plugin patching, backups and security monitoring, because out-of-date plugins are one of the most common ways small business sites get hacked. Static hand-coded sites need far less, since there is no database or plugin stack to attack.

Every website still needs a domain renewal, DNS, hosting, and content updates when your services change. Web Blend handles all of that as part of the build, so nothing lands on you as a monthly maintenance bill. Before you commit to any platform, ask what the site will need from you in year two. That answer varies more than the build price does.
