The standard structure is a one-hour minimum charge, not a call-out fee: whatever the job, the first hour is billed in full. That structure is the reliable headline. The fee amounts behind it conflict: Service.com.au (14 Apr 2026) frames the minimum as 1 to 1.5 hours of labour, roughly $40 to $60, while Call The Handyman lists a flat $60 to $100, so the honest figure is a range of ranges, $40 to $100.
After hours, published loadings run up to 1.5 times the standard rate, and 1.5 to 2 times on public holidays, with after-hours call-out fees of $100 to $150 and emergency repairs in the burst-pipe class at $200 to $400.

Why rates are what they are: the cost floor
