What actually happened to Oneflare?
Airtasker bought Oneflare in 2022 for $9.8 million. In 2026 it decided to run one marketplace instead of two, announced Oneflare would be “retired”, and closed it on 30 June 2026. Until that date, accounts, job history and chats stayed accessible, and tradies could spend existing credits as normal. After it, the website and mobile app redirect straight to Airtasker.
Two practical details from Airtasker’s own help centre. First, auto-renewals were turned off from 1 June 2026, so no further subscription or renewal fees should have been charged from that date. Second, the article does not spell out what happens to unused credits after the shutdown, so if you had a balance left, contact Airtasker support and get an answer in writing.
What are tradies saying about the shutdown?
We will not fabricate quotes or threads. But across tradie Facebook groups and forums like Whirlpool, the questions people are asking are consistent: what happens to the credits I already paid for, can I get my reviews and profile out before they disappear, and where does the work come from now? Some tradies report frustration at paying for leads right up until a shutdown they did not see coming. Others report relief: they had already soured on shared leads and price-shoppers, and this forced the decision they had been putting off.
To be fair to Airtasker, running two marketplaces that compete for the same tradies and the same homeowners is expensive, and consolidating is a normal business call, not a scandal.
